In The Beginning

January 5

" In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’”

(Genesis 1:1)

Genesis 1:1 is more than the opening verse of the Bible—it’s the foundation of all existence. It reminds us that God is the Creator of everything, including the process of recovery. Just as He brought order out of chaos in the beginning, God can bring renewal and restoration to the chaos of our lives.

Healing begins when we acknowledge that we are not the architects of our own lives. Like the formless and empty earth in Genesis 1, our lives before recovery may feel void, dark, and chaotic. Addiction, broken relationships, and despair often leave us feeling hopeless. But God specializes in creating beauty out of brokenness.

The same creative power that formed the universe is at work in you. When you surrender to Jesus Christ, He begins a new creation within your heart. He speaks light into your darkness and forms a path of healing where none seemed possible. Through His Word, God provides the tools to rebuild your life on a solid foundation.

How has God begun to create order out of the chaos in your life? What areas still feel formless and void, and how can you invite Him to work in those spaces?

Creator God, thank You for Your power to make something new out of the emptiness and chaos in my life. Help me to trust Your process as I seek after you, knowing that You are forming something beautiful within me. Amen.
